Interesting! I have a few clumpy grasses on my property that are very tough as well, and I put a saw blade on my whipper snipper (mostly to demolish the lantana for which it works *very* well) but it’s still difficult to use on the grasses. They are just so tough that if you go the slightest bit too fast it wraps around the head and before long it jams and you have to stop and pick all the grass out so the head will spin again. You almost need something completely different that doesn’t spin so the grass can’t get bound up in it, like a reciprocating saw or a band saw but on a whipper snipper handle instead.
The rat tail did the same when it was green & long mid summer. Cuts a lot better when it has browned off a bit. If it wasn’t wet I’d be out there doing more around the dams.
Stihl makes a hedge trimmer that I’ve seen attached to a string trimmer in other people’s videos. Maybe you can try that.

have u considered a casual scythe and do it manually? i think this woul be quick as well
Would a scythe work on the rat tail grass? I have always wanted to learn to use one
Now, don’t forget to assign a spot in a shed to store that blade when you’re not using it. Having an ‘official’ storage spot for things helps me keep track of my smaller tools.
Too many years watching animal planet. Anytime I see someone in Australia in tall grass or reaching into a blind hole my anxiety goes up 😂

Is the grass chopped and dropped, or are you able to use it for animals? I know a lot of invasives in my area like mustard and feather grass are good silage and backup hay.
