SEEDS ARE CHEAP

This Video is from the Youtube channel:ย “Keep on Growin’ with Mike VanDuzee”.ย

How to save money while growing your own food. People say seeds are expensive. Here is how I grow lots of food and plants while on a budget. Let’s compare the cost of buying seed packets to buying actual microgreen seeds in bulk.

I like to buy the non-gmo seed. I know thereโ€™s a price difference between conventional seed and non-gmo seed.

In Canada buying in little packs is not good for micro greens. better to buy 1-5 kg from mum’s./ they can ship to usa as well. for somethings saving your own seeds is good

I appreciate your answering my questions.

Iโ€™ve been all over the internet looking for spinach seeds for sprouting. Closest I could get was pre sprouting seeds in water/peroxide mix on paper towels, then placing the sprouted seed in rock wool for growing hydroponically. Do you have any advice on this?

  • @kkl8631 says:

Thanks for the information! Very interesting.

  • @ausfoodgarden says:

Yep, it’s way better to buy bigger packs for microgreens.
Even better if you have the space is to put a few plants in the garden and let them go to seed.
My mixed brassica and lettuce micro and mini greens are all from free saved seed. Great video Mike.

I was looking at saving $10 a month to buy my seeds in bulk. With $120 I can buy 6 varieties, one pound of each. For me alone $.25 cents at the dollar store and sometimes less was fine. But now that I want to try micro greens your math works out much better. Thanks for sharing. I am about to harvest my first Swiss chard. Itโ€™s such an amazing feeling.
