@@KeepOnGrowin : Well Mike, I’m an old lab rat. so this is something that pretty much all of us I’ve had to deal with.
A person can’t afford to have lab equipment rolling and smacking around, (Even though the glass is tempered) although it’s inevitable if precautions aren’t taken.
so if that’s an issue, consider wrapping a nice thick rubber band around your vessels.
It’s a cheap fix, and a cheap bumper to protect your glassware. and as a bonus, if you do happen to knock something over, it doesn’t roll off your workbench. The rubber band usually stops the rolling, which should also function to limit the range of the mess from any spills.
My word! I use this for electrical wiring. Never even thought of it. GENIUS!!!

I was doing that with some nice old socks, that I finally managed to put my toes through.
Not the total answer, though, for 3 1/2 gallon block it.
Sadly, I think I’m stuck with spray paint for that.

These are quart jars. Going to try 70mm on pints when it arrives. 👍
I use aluminum foil. It allows me to peel it back to check the water level.

I put a sock over my jar by sliding the jar in the sock. You sometimes end up with one with holes (which you could use too) or lose a sock so you end up with one. I slide it over the jar. Even if you go to Dollar Tree you can get them cheap. They last for a long time.

I do the same thing, but if the sock is not a black sock or nearly black, I find that I still get algae growing in the growth medium.
