Hydroponic Cucumber Harvest, Grow Bag Peppers and Greenhouse Stuff

This Video is from the Youtube channel:Homegrown Passion”.

We worked all day in the hydroponic greenhouse harvesting cucumbers, pruning them, packaging them with shrink wrap, caring for tomatoes, and getting all of the mild peppers into hydroponic grow bags. We used a vermiculite/perlite mixture and have a bunch of bags ready to go to the high tunnel once it warms up. Katy also harvested some of the cauliflower out of the Dutch buckets. It was so good and fresh! Then I showed a newborn calf and also an update on my Desktop NFT system.

Sixteen minutes and thirty-nine seconds went by way too quickly.
You are like a webinar on greenhouse growing.
Thanks for helping me enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and stay safe.

  • Charles Kiplinger says:

WOW those have grown fast. Got my Dutch buckets set up for green beans this year after seeing what yours did.

    • Homegrown Passion says:

Yes that’s awesome! Hope you get lots of good crops. It’s crazy how fast they grow and how much they produce.

  • Summer Breeze Farm says:

    Hi Devon!
You’ll never guess, today the NFT is running and my plants are sitting happily in the troughs.
I can hardly wait to see our results 💚
I’ve started tomato plants for the mini hoops.
I’m curious how often do you run the toothbrush for pollination? Everyday?
Say hi to Katy for me. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for next time. Take care!

    • Homegrown Passion says:

Awesome! This will be fun being in the same stage. I was thinking of moving it to the window sill, but im going to try that for the next round. We try to pollinate every two days at least but everyday would be really good. I’ll definitely tell Katy and we will be doing stuff in the high tunnel this week. Hope you have a great week!

  • TS Miller says:

I enjoyed it all & katie’s humor! 😁 I am doing my vining plants a bit different after watching your vids. They take up so much less space when you go vertical!

  • Michael Pye says:

you all certainly work so hard and deserve every success!!!

First video of yours that I have watched…your doing a great job! I have been growing in my small back yard hydro green house for 20 yrs and I always wanted a much bigger operation. I am envious!

    • Homegrown Passion says:

Thanks! It’s fun making videos in the greenhouse. It was my parents’ dream since they got married, and they started their first crop 6 years ago. Lots of hours some days, but a nice place to work.

  • Joe Cochran says:

You guys do an outstanding job and run a 1st class operation.
    Thanks for sharing.

  • Matt Garver says:

So busy this time of the year, it is wonderful to see so much happening at the farm.

  • Jake Knelsen says:

If you pick off the doubles and do a “1 in 1 out” pruning technique, you’ll balance the plants better thus creating a stronger, longer lasting plant😁

  • Rafael Avella says:

Hi Devon, congrats, video edition is great in your videos, please say hello to rest of the team, can you please share how do you clean your main reservoir??? that would be great!!!!thank you for give us hope 😀

  • Caribe Castaway says:

People never stop to realize how much work there is in raising food. I had a 30,000 sq ft green house raising 8,800 bell pepper plants, 2 stems each. Once they started putting on flowers. I had a group of 4 -6 people that were dedicated solely to trimming the side shoots and setting the strings. very labor intensive. Of course when you are harvesting 750 to 1000 pounds of peppers twice a week it makes it worth while. Thanks for the video

Just wanted to know what temperature do you store cucumber in cooler room?

  • Venki Das says:

You guys are such lovely family. God bless. Great work, ethic and effort. Thanks for sharing

  • Shawn&Cheri Young says:

I have worked in a lot of greenhouses and this one is the cleanest and most efficient I have seen…I love the routine…outstanding!!!

    • Homegrown Passion says:

Wow, thank you! So nice to have nice comments. Katy does try and keep it clean. I don’t know if you saw the video where she vacuums the greenhouse…. Not sure anyone does that, but it does keep it nice and clean. The HEPA filter probably sucks up some bad things as well.
