Yay, I hope you have a great day Hoocho 🙂
Also, consider repurposing old laptop batteries in series or old EV batteries. I saw a tiny home in Australia use these to power their tiny home 🙂

  • @christopherwhaler5086 says:

    1. I love your videos. 2. Batteries aren’t cheap. Let’s assume the battery you have there costs $1k. How many times can you charge and discharge? Will this battery last 1 year? Not to mention buying all the other equipment, is it economical to do this? I wrote this before watching, and I am watching to get the answer to these, because I have a battery, solar panels and bought the cheap hydroponic equipment…wondering if it’s a fire risk plus would be more expensive than buying from the market.

    • @Hoocho says:

      The battery was $200.
$10 for the battery box (came in a deal)
      $150 for the charge controller…
The NFT was about $150 all up.
Assuming you don’t have to go out and purchase all the tools you need, it cost just over $500

It’s definitely not the cheapest way to grow plants. But I’m trying to run a system off grid.

If I wanted to run a cheap system I’d plug it into a wall.

“Let’s assume” you actually CHECK the prices and longevity BEFORE “Assuming”?
      smh

Nice setup. I have a solar powered hydro setup without all that fancy stuff. I use a solar powered pond pump and use 5 gallon buckets with overflow spigots about 4 inches from the bottom. The water spritzes the perlite in the buckets and the reservoir at the bottom of the buckets store water if the pump is off more than a day or so.

My hydro is always off grid, its called Kratky,

Personally 12v pumps should be more available than they are. Low voltage is nice for various use cases.

  • @modal-kkurt4986 says:

Dammit, i literally bought a lithium to do this a few weeks ago. Haha timing is perfect!
