Daikon Radish Harvest & We Lost Our First Chicken
This Video is from the Youtube channel: “Rob Bob’s Aquaponics & Backyard Farm”.
G'Day Folks. B has harvested the first of her Daikon radishes & is very please with the result. We've included a bit of a run down on her favourite way to process & eat them as well. We also run through a deworming feed we've used on the chickens, new feed we're trying to boost egg numbers & news about the poor girl that didn't make it.
Cheers all.

That awesome. Hope you feel better soon
Much appreciated Michael. 👍 Feeling a lot better than I was when we filmed this.
Hope all’s well with you and yours.
I see those radishes and am now craving radish cakes! Great winter grub, but it’s more Chinese than Korean. Poor chook, but well fed sea eagle! 😅We have what I think is a grey goshawk (rare here) that frequents our yard. Eldest got a pic of it the other day. Our chooks are safe from that tiny guy, but we’re hoping he’s helping cull the seemingly millions of sparrows we get. Hoping you feel better soon!
Thanks Janis, I’m feeling much better now. We get the brown hawks here going the peaceful doves but I think they eye off the chooks as well.
Cheers again for the well wishes and have a fantastic one.
I grew Daikon radishes for the 1st time this year. They are excellent!
We have some black jersey, Giants and LA eggs right before they climb on the rooster tonight so if you let them out at all, you’re gonna have eggs all over the woods so I’ll have to find a different kind of chicken and rice so I can let them out by 2 o’clock
get well soon mate
👍👍
I love those big white radishes. they are delicious
What happened with that tool when you were cutting? Saw smoke and you unplugged it. Glad nothing major happened. Thanks for the update. I’ve seen one of those wonky trees in am arboretum. Appreciate the quick recipe for pickling dacon 😊😊
Thanks
Love daikon radish, pods are wonderful and of you burry top couple of inches with an inch of green they will start growing back. You can use them for pods and have your own seeds later.
Nice to see you both again in an update. Get well Rob!
daikon kimchi is awesome
Nice Daikon harvest, Bianca. Get well soon, Rob. Always good to see you two.
Hope you feel better soon Rob🤧 Drink plenty of hot drinks. My fav Lemon, Ginger & Honey tea. Sad to loose one of the girls. At least the wallaby’s mowed your lawn & composted it as well.🦘
Thanks for the update Bob, hope you get better soon!
My parents used to use stuff called “layers mash” when I was a youngster in Rhodesia, our hens had a designated enclosure to stroll in, our gardener would throw the garden waste in to a pit there and they would go and scratch in it and feed on any insects that they came across. I make fermented vegetables from time to time, love it!
at start: is this a giggidy ?
Wow! I love pickled daikon! I’ve made a heap before and have a line of preorders for my next batch. I’ve put some seeds in some recently for the first time, I can only hope they’re anything near that size.
Sorry to hear about the chook. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
