Could you use the pondliner and build a box beneath the clay ball trench with the liner within it. And it could work as the reservoir (with volume and dimensions as needed) as well as the stand for the trench to be on. You loose the airy and beauty the legs provide that you have now. But the area use would be the same and you dont need to afford or find a ibc that havent had chemical transport in it.

i have a question.
some people grow tomatoes upside down. can you suggest which method of tomato growing is better – upside down or regulat straight up???
You can use Dipel on your cabbages mate. No chemical pesticides in it, it’s literally caterpillar/moth specific germs, specifically Bacillus thuringiensis. I think it counts as organic. But you’re a smart dude and probably know that already and are just doing it to show us it can be done.
I’ve got it on Hydroland, just been pushing to see how well the silica works hahah

hey Hoocho have you thought about a biological control for your pest issue in the greenhouse? For example you could introduce lacewings to eat the spidermites.
You get to keep an eye out for ya dad you eventally gain a helper and someone to help you eat all those extra vegies and not to mention all that mead you have , will be good times building the house .
yeah same issue i had with eggplants and beans, i just decied to not grow them anymore!
3:31 Didn’t you just discover a new aero-hydroponic system here? The aeration to hydration ratio is higher, and tomatoes seem to love it.

8:30 Could you stick a thinish white PVC pipe in each pot, with some sort of cover to block light and avoid algae. Then, you could use some clear tube (like on fish tanks), stick that down the pipe to the bottom, put you thumb over the top and pull it out, and that will tell you how deep it is. You can use that same tune on all pots, with the white PVC being permanently in each pot.
One solution for checking the water level would be to use a clear bucket which you spray paint black and keep a transparent vertical line (using tape) on one side
The retained trees have copped a beating, think about remediation to all trees adjoining earthworks, like mulching and water regime..

The updates are great, and as always where things went wrong as well as very successful. I must say though, I would have shreaded the trees instead of burning, a few tons of mulch this year, is a ton of good compost next year.
I would have loved to build a house for my parents to live near me, so looking forward to seeing what you do!
