Is Your Hydroponic System Ready for a Break? Do This First!
This Video is from the Youtube channel: “Homegrown Passion”.
Did you know an empty 1,200-gallon greenhouse nutrient tank could actually POP right out of the ground? 😳🌱
Hi everyone! It's Katy! ❤️
Well, it's time to shut down another part of my hydroponic greenhouse for the season, and today I'm tackling our big 1,200-gallon NFT nutrient tank!
But I can't just empty it and walk away!
Because we're located near the Vermillion River, our groundwater table can get pretty high. If I'm not careful, the pressure from that groundwater could actually push my underground tank right out of the ground and damage all my plumbing!
So before draining anything, I have to make sure our sump pump is working and the groundwater level is safely down.
Then it's time to flush out the old nutrient solution, replace it with fresh, clean water, and get everything ready for a little break.
And let me tell you… when that pump finally shuts off, the greenhouse gets SO quiet! 😂
I'm already missing my beautiful tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers, but I'm looking forward to getting everything cleaned up and ready for another growing season!
Thanks for spending a few minutes with me today. I hope you enjoy these little behind-the-scenes looks at what it takes to keep our hydroponic greenhouse running!

Well, that’s another big greenhouse job checked off my list! ❤🌱
I have to admit, it feels a little strange hearing the greenhouse so quiet after listening to those pumps running all season!
And can you imagine my 1,200-gallon tank popping right out of the ground? 😳 That’s one surprise I definitely DON’T want! 😂
Now I’m curious… do you enjoy these little behind-the-scenes videos showing what it really takes to run our greenhouse?

Toujours aussi bonne beauté❤
Merci beaucoup, you are so sweet! 😊❤️
i would store that tank dry, its a good way to get rid of unwanted pest/bacteria or add hydrogenperoxide
That’s an interesting idea, but because my tank is underground, leaving it dry could cause it to float out of the ground due to the high groundwater level! 😊
@HomegrownPassion Yeah, something tells me you wouldn’t like it dry.
@HomegrownPassion You could also let clean water cycle the entire system with added hydrogenperoxide. It will “burn” all your waste organics out of all tanks, channels, pumps, pipes and hoses. and then start fresh with a clean system with none of last years pests… the only waste product from Hydrogenperoxide is hydrogen and oxygen, no trace chemichals…
Katy, Katy!! I was already enjoying your discussion about a sump pump and water management, then that red top appeared!! Well, I was all eyes and not much ears after you squatted down by some equipment. I am so tempted to sign up for your paid content.
I FEEL the sincerity in your commentary! Would that I had your way with words!
Blessings on both YOU and your keyboard!
Thanks to you, my pumper is getting a DEEP cleaning… I wish i could dip my probe to clean your tank… all the way to the bottom… just as you described!! 🙂
It’s so important to make sure everything is thoroughly cleaned before the next season starts! 😊
Your descriptive commentary is not lost on me! NOR, I’m sure, on the industrious little Katy!
Thanks for praising her!
@HomegrownPassionyes, I agree 😉 Thank you for the enticing and informative videos. Getting a sneak peek of your assets is wonderful!
yes mam;;;a friend had a plastic pool put in the 80’s and didn’t know any better than to leave a certain amount of wate in it;;;he thuought he would get a double whammy by draining the pool when we had about 7 inches of rain;;;he thought the rain would wash most of the debree out while draining durnig the rain;;;lol;;;well the next morning his pool was floating up about 4′ above ground;;;;anyway girl ya gonna get the bucks in a rut before deer season even starts;;;hey ya still have a small window to get rid of that farmers tan;;;I bet you can get you hubby to most of the work getting things done for winter season and tanning at the same time;;my wife hated tan lines and used to make work double time for the privilege of doing the tan lotion;;;ok more than ya needed there but we both enjoyed your getting green house watering system in order and hope that more of the fellers that are so speechles and stopped hearts would have the courtesy to hit that thumbs up button;;;no 76 here;;;and enjoyed and we be back for the next one;;;
Katy, red really suits you! ❤ You make even an everyday farm chore look effortlessly charming. These short, simple, eye-catching videos really grab our attention, and sometimes less is more! It’s great to see you back to this kind of content. You’ve got that natural charm that makes people stop scrolling, and we’d love to see more videos like this. Looking forward to the next one! 😉
Like it? Girl, I freaking loved it. Dat pose got me thinkin about pumping and a DEEP clean. So many mindless women my age (37) and younger. Luv how u use your mind with all of that double word play. Makes you smoking hot. With winter coming, gonna dream of planting season and being da p♠mp u’ll luv to hear on nights when the snow is pounding down on a looong hard cold night up North. You may have hit 50, Katy, but it’s still plenty of time to “take on” a new pumpin hobby. U curious???
Love the hanging fruit
Excellent video, on so many levels😎
😮😮🤩🤩💗💗🥰🥰❤️🔥❤️🔥great video. New viewer here and really enjoyed what I have seen
I always look forward to your next video. This was worth the wait….. 😍😍
One more comment, when are you going to bang cucumbers against the barrel again, that was riveting.
