Oh good sir, I’m relieved you’re alright. I was new to the channel before you had gone offline. I would like to thank you for (I just don’t have the words) being a wonderful light in my YouTube bubble, and rescuing me from hopelessness. All the best to you and your loved ones.
    I sincerely thank you.

    Exciting !!! Im
    Tuned in !

If you’re able to build out your own LOCAL llm, and 3D printer, and etc. the sky is literally the limit. And they are trying like HELL to keep Local LLM away from people. It will change things like how the home pc changed things in the 90s. It’s an entirely new era and it’s still in its infancy.

  • @simon359 says:

The thing for me is, I don’t want to use AI technology because I don’t know what information it’s collecting on me as I use it? How do I know that it won’t be used against me later on?
Just look at what is going on with Alexia, your thermostat or any other smart appliances that is collecting data on you. Not to mention any new car has kill switches, biometrics built-in. Tracks you everywhere you go. Listens to your conversations and sells your information to insurance companies.
I don’t really care for the way things are going, and the fact that once everything becomes digital in currency, that can be used against you too. Just as your social media is collected by the state.

    • @UponGiantsShoulders says:

Is your shovel going to turn on you? No, that is silly, because we understand a shovel. The key is understanding. I use isolation, my AI server has no access to the internet, the models it runs are all open source. At the end of the day you have to grow to use more tools. Its just a tool.

    • @simon359 says:

      @UponGiantsShoulders
I guess you didn’t hear about the latest iPhone hack! People are reporting their cameras are on and people are watching them. It’s all over the Internet now. Apparently they’re getting through the airplane mode and other apps that have access to your camera.
If they can do this without AI, imagine what will happen once AI is fully implemented across the world. This is one reason I don’t have any smart appliances in my home and never will.

Ai knows all about my obsession with my garden. lol

    • @leamsol5615 says:

He is hosting a local agent that is static. It’s already been trained and isn’t collecting information. Any collected information is done through applications/programs he is using or inputting his own information. Running a LLM locally on your own hardware gives you data sovereignty, you can have 0 connection to the internet and the LLM is using the GPU/RAM you gave it to run, it needs no cloud access or servers.

Model weights CAN be poisoned by bad actors who can make a model do bad things like writing a script onto your PC when you use certain keywords/phrases. I don’t know of any that happened yet but that said if it’s offline, you have a script on your PC that would only do anything bad if you were to connect it back to the internet, which most people have seperate Local model systems for strictly internet use. You have to deal with your agent looking at a website, the website having data/text that says, “Ignore previous instructions and do x.”

That said a local model most likely will not be taking your information and sending it else where. Cloud based Models collect every single thing you send it and use it to train the next model.

    • @UponGiantsShoulders says:

@simon359 You are basically telling me what you can see with your eyes when my eyes can better see what is true. The smaller the software footprint, the fewer the bugs, exploits, and vulnerabilities. I am an enterprise architect for a fortune 100 company. I well know what security looks like most of my job is dedicated to it. You, I am sure, see all of this as essentially magic, I see it as commands that run in shell and isolating those is what risk management and risk apatite are all about.

    Good to see ya man

I’m looking forward to the day when we can use SI to create court / legal documents to enter the lions den Pro Si and win…
~ without needing an expensive lawyer who is already in cahoots with the lion!

  • @agrosyntrop says:

I’ve been using your crop planning technique along with AI to figure it all out. Exciting stuff. All the best to you and your family 🙂

  • @ike-lo7dq says:

I have several computers I turned my most powerful pc 32 thread cpu 128 gb ram 32 vram and over 10tb of storage running arch linux on bear metal, I ssh into it from any pc on my home network build a gui for the ai model, w/ folder dir its pretty slick, it runs 32b models fast! My router running opnsense made firewall rules to make sure none of the models can phone home with any of my data, as well as ufw rules inside arch linux system limiting what the models can access! It was a fun project!
