This Baby Calf Lost His Mama…Now We’re Fighting to Save Him

This Video is from the Youtube channel:Homegrown Passion”.

We had to step in to save this baby calf after his mama sadly died shortly after giving birth. In this emotional farm-life video, Katy bottle feeds our orphaned bull calf and shares the story of how he became our little miracle on the farm.

Two days ago, this baby Hereford bull calf was born on the farm. His mama did everything she could — she got him cleaned off, got him breathing, and gave him a chance. Sadly, the vet believes she hemorrhaged after the birth, and we lost her shortly after.

After that, we knew we had to move fast. Katy wrapped the calf in a blanket, got him safe and warm in the chicken coop, and the vet came out to check him over. He received a vitamin shot and a white muscle shot, and our biggest goal was getting colostrum into him during that first critical feeding.

Now this little calf is getting stronger every day. He is taking a full bottle of calf milk replacer, becoming more alert, standing better, and showing us that he really wants to fight.

In this video, Katy shares:

How we found the newborn calf after his mama passed
Why we had to move quickly to keep him safe and warm
Why colostrum was so important in the first feeding
What the vet did to help him get started
How we are bottle feeding an orphaned calf
What we are watching for as he gets stronger
Why farm life can be heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time
Why this little bull calf feels like our miracle on the farm

We also need your help naming him! He is a full-blood Hereford bull calf with a patch around one eye and eyeliner around the other, and he has already shown us he is a little fighter.
