    keep the farm stuff coming!

  • @jeans1712 says:

Nice to check in with you folks. Glad you are keeping on…

  • @ronyerke9250 says:

Check the SHAWN WOODS for a lot of different rat/mice traps. Also, if chickens aren’t harmed by baking soda, mix some with cornmeal. Rats will die an agonizing death.

  • @Kearnesy says:

With your rat problem the snap wood traps or the plastic ones use a bit of bluetack on where you put the bait then a few sunflower seeds they will go to eat the seeds but because they are stuck they will struggle and get trapped. I did this at my house around the chickens got over a dozen rats in a few days

  • @LizNeville says:

    Loving the farm content!

  • @dannyfrommyceswickfarm1758 says:

Good to see you both back, have you tackled the rat tail grass yet also an update on the rodent dispenser after you trial it please other wise all is good

  • @briannasandles8439 says:

Apparently an old farmers trick is to use dry Deb potato. The rats like the smell of it, eat it, go to a water source, it swells in their stomach and they die

  • @bigunone says:

Have you thought about building a drowning barrel for your rat problem. With mice you can use a 5 gallon bucket you put bait (peanut butter is normal) on a soda can that is on an axle in the middle, when they reach out to get the peanut butter the can rotates and dumps them in the water. I have also read mixing flour with baking soda will cause them to die

  • @ozzypunk1 says:

Hot glue gun some dog biscuits to the rat trap if they are stealing your bait.

  • @ozzypunk1 says:

I would love to see some more aquaponics garden tours of other peoples systems.

  • @prubroughton1864 says:

I have been using the good nature traps for many years, they also count the bodies, because the live rats will cart the bodies away😊

  • @prubroughton1864 says:

I live in New Zealand the home of these traps 😊

  • @JonTheAverageMaker says:

I have used the a24 trap in Adelaide for about 5 years. I had very little success until all food sources, like chicken feeders, were secured at night. I have had most success with live catch traps, unfortunately, but the a24 is the best of the set and forget options.

  • @annecasillas5402 says:

My cousin had several of the numatic ones and the dang rats figured it out and they only got 3. Maybe new ones are better now, this was 8 years ago.

  • @DaveJonesAustralia says:

Prefer the farm content, but less about machinery and more about the environmental and restoration side.

  • @KeithWAllan says:

Hi Rob there is a bait you can use. Hi carb of soda and mix with flour and salt. Have water next to the bait

  • @reelthing4u says:

GOOD DAY .FOR THE RATS FEED THEM JIFFY CORN BREAD MIX. NON TOXIC TO PETS AND CHICKEN IF THE THEY EAT IT.I DON’T KNOW IF IT HURT STUMPY. RATS IT WILL KILL BECAUES THEY CAN’T BURP .

  • @KeithWAllan says:

Rob yes I watch and love your videos

  • @Paul_Au says:

My suggestion RE: the Chicken/ garden issue would be pen the veges if possible.
Allow the chickens to roam as far and wide as possible, because they then can spread their effectiveness better. Ie: less manure concentration and wider pest extermination… (insects and plants that they like.)
I don’t know if you have Clover there (Probably not)…
I wish I had chickens again if for no other reason than to deal with my clover.
In my previous place they just totally eradicated it with free ranging 6 chooks over it.
