Gardener Tries Plastic Free Gardening for 90 Days
This Video is from the Youtube channel: “Keep on Growin’ with Mike VanDuzee”.
My first 90 days trying to go plastic free with my hydroponic garden. We tested a lot of things including wood, glass and bioplastics. Much more to come including recipes and how to use all the microgreens and baby greens you will be growing. Reusing single use plastic is a great way to be more eco friendly if you can not go totally plastic free.

This is very timely. I’m currently in that rabbit hole of do I want to by PVC and should it be food grade. I’m considering glass channels/rails.
Great videos thanks
Seems you’re focusing on microgreens anymore. Miss the vegie hydroponic videos.
One step at a time. I practice what I preach.
I love what you are doing. I am starting to grow some microgreens. They taste very good. You make it seem easy but i know now there is a learning curve. It is manageable especially with all your explanations. Thanks very much from British Columbia, Canada.
Love this video! Mike what suggestions do you have for shielding the plants form the weather? looks like you have an area where they are under cover and some are out in the open. Do they all get rained on or does the overhead screen protect prevent the rain from penetrating?
It’s a shade house I made out of old scaffolds. I stretched pvc and a shade cloth over it. Just now pulled some cheap plastic over to protect from the rain.
Thank you 🥰
Can marbles be used?
The clay pebbles hold moisture.
Best Grow Channel on the Planet.
Thank you brother!
What nutrients do you add to water?
Good video! Thank you for showing us the progress.
Excellent video. I love the part with you cooking!
Cool experiments Mike! I gotta show you how I’m starting my garlic out of glass Ball/Mason jars. I filled them with pebbles, and then with nutrient mix. Cut the tops of the garlic bulb, and place it on top of the pebbles in the water. It started putting out roots in just a matter of hours.
That’s cool. Maybe I should try, I have two heads of garlic that did not get planted last Fall. They are just sitting around, lol.
Same as I do mine, I love garlic scapes.
Good stuff Mike. Thank you sir.
mike this is incredible, great job!
Nice video Mike. Those good compostable bags seem to break down in my compost bin in 3-6 months depending on temperature.
They may take longer just buried in the soil.
I loved the expectations vs reality on microgreens. Great job mate.
Thanks much! I appreciate it!
Was able to use used K cups and dryer lint on lettuce. Lovebto send you pictures.
That’s cool! keepongrowin1@gmail.com
I love your experiments! I saw your covers and I was also thinking “I bet those bee’s wax covers would be great” you could buy some or make your own.
Just leaving ideas.
Thank you
Did I catch that?
did you change your nutrient mix?
For this new plastic free experiment?
Hi I’m in Australia. Doors anytime know where to find seeds that don’t cost a fortune? Thanks
