    Thank you for your video

This is an interesting option for a wicking bed. I have a question: I’d like to have a solution for strawberries primarily. Which bed would you consider planting them in based on the average life of 3 years? I’ve used your tower system originally with the clay balls and insert, which seemed to work really well, until a heavy wind event destroyed them. I repositioned them into the same system but without the clay balls, and I’ve lost 1/3 of the plants after the initial stress from being repositioned, but this could be due to the watering system (set for 15mins every hour – increased to 15 min on and off during a heat wave), but it has been reduced back down to every hour. In the UK for referance.

Very keen to see how these work out thanks Hoocho

I like where this is going! Is the coir matting cheap enough in aus to use as a top cover? I was looking for some today in nz at bunnings. But it seems the season is wrong for selling it in nz. Cheers for another great video and project!

  • @jimd1617 says:

    nice 😎

  • @RemizZ says:

With the types of torrential downpours we get in Germany nowadays, I think this bed would be overflowing hard even with the draining channels. Might even wash out a lot of the grow media or dislodge the plants.

  • @Gartendalf says:

Will adapt. Actually wanted to design something similar for indoors auquaponics next year. this should work though. very inspiring!

  • @moogoomoogoo5990 says:

What’s the issue of coco coir being exposed to sunlight?

  • @kchortu says:

I love your commitment to the slide

  • @kchortu says:

Were you inspired by the dog bowl?!?!?!?!

  • @kchortu says:

I have told so many peopel to use concrete mixers for soil work and got more dumb looks vs hell yeahs. Thanks for proving me right

  • @kchortu says:

Top with pearlite sure it will grow algae… but you just till it back in and back fill with coco next time. It also refkects light back up. Aussie goon not american goon, Aussies dont google if you dont want to to know the difference. Americans a goon is a bag of wine from a box like Franzia, (try the sweet red chilled its lovely in july.)

  • @daphnetilling6034 says:

I am curious if this method could be adapted for root vegetables like carrots, potatoes and ginger?

  • @rw-xf4cb says:

You could put plastic over the top of the coco and/or scoria and then pierce the locations for the plants that would minimize the rain getting in – if using panda film then put white up to keep the heat down.

  • @tastyfrzz1 says:

Larry Hall in Brainard Minnesota put out videos for rain gutter gardens over ten years ago. Just use 5 or 7 gallon pails with net cups dipping into cheap plastic rain gutters. The valves mount on the end. The soil is primarily compost.

  • @bradgriffiths7507 says:

I’ve been waiting for a blueberry system… is this it??? My eldest daughter loves them

  • @michellecolledge2355 says:

    I love this!

  • @prndownload says:

It would be cool if this system does actually wick and perform equally.

  • @zebbugi86 says:

Why did you not use clay balls like the other system? Cost based?
