We are picking Hydroponic Strawberries into December

This Video is from the Youtube channel:Homegrown Passion”.

Winter strawberries are still producing in the high tunnel Bato bucket system. Our other Bato buckets are producing colored peppers, English Cucumbers and tomatoes! Rebuilding our greenhouse fertilizer system.

.. super berry season and everything I noticed the poultry farmers had doseatrons and give the birds mineral water that way ..!

  • @michaelwellik145 says:

When you are not able to use hydroponic nutrients on the strawberries you might consider using Holly Tone. I have been using it for many years with great success. It does take a little time to break down so it’s available but it might help you extend your season.

I have my strawberry plants ordered for next season, Albion, Charlotte which is resistant to spider mites and powdery mildew, and may experiment keeping a June bearing type in constant flower mode over winter. I have used kelp extract as a foliar feed to increase plant health, fruit taste, cold weather resistance and cell strength and a few specific minerals to resist pests and mildew. Have you considered adding water barrels as a solar heat buffer? And we should talk nutrients sometime Katy.

Nice video ,thanks for sharing, we are still picking strawberrys also big ones like you have, have next years berrys ordered.

What maintenance or calibration is needed for your EC probe beyond cleaning it periodically ? Thank you for all of the sharing you do. Wishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

No calibration on the EC Just cleaning the probe keeps it going. You do have to re-calibrate the PH probe periodically. The system tells you when you have to perform the procedure.

    What temperature is your greenhouse?

  • @qmoonwalker3847 says:

Always so impressed with the dosetron system. What a great system for efficiency Do the bellow wear because they are always being actuated 24/7 or does the nutrients simply make brittle and less effective? The new filters look much more effective. All your plants look so darn good!!

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

They sell rebuild kits for the Dostrons but it’s just O-rings and seal so I think they will last a long time. We have never had to do any Maintenace on them.

  • @FensterfarmGreenhouse says:

My strawberries have just about played out.
Probably only going to keep 1 row of them and grow something else in that house this winter!
Hope you guys are doing well?

I know you guys got them in a month or so before us. I’m on a mission to see how long I can keep them going. Good to hear from you guys. We are doing great. Hope you are as well. Talk soon!
