    Can we hit 150 Likes?!

  • Fintan Parsons says:

    Best one yet😁

  • D Scott says:

What if the electricity was virtually free? How would that impact the viability of the Vertical Farming System?

    • Foodverge says:

Energy stands out as one of the bigger hurdles facing the vertical farming industry. Adding renewable energy would help the environmental impact but to supply enough energy to run a vertical farm would add the huge amount of capital needed. But we are seeing companies add in elements of renewable energy. Do you have any other questions about vertical farms and I can make an in-depth video about it for you?

    • Hardstyle Life says:

@Foodverge well since you are asking 🙂 it would be interesting to know :
      – which companies are actually playing worldwide to lead this market,
      – how far away they are from overcoming regular agriculture,
      – how are they planning to handle/deal with energy costs in order to make the products more and more convenient for the average buyer and in the end
-what kind of varieties (if a list already exist) are actually cultivated (cultivable..) in vertical farming

  • 60secondknowledge says:

Can you do a video on some of the most innovative start ups in this space?

  • Anuj Shah says:

Will vertical farms in the open such as tower garden solve the problem of electricity use or in such farms the shadow of the tower will result in low yields ?

    • Anuj Shah says:

By in the open I meant in a polyhouse

    • Foodverge says:

The main energy requirement is the light source. It tends to be LED lights as they are efficient and there is a level of customisation you can do to optimise growing conditions. If you used just sunlight on the towers you would reduce energy consumption but also yield. Hope that’s useful. Jack

Keep up with similar content & you’ll grow 100%, subbed

  • M Studio says:

Problem is cost, dependencies on monopoly farms. Low income people will depend on farms they hardly capable of paying….

    • Foodverge says:

Do you mean cost of infrastructure or cost of the produce? I’d be interested to hear your opinion. Vertical farming may not be the perfect solution but it’s efficiency may be needed to feed an ever growing population

    • Foodverge says:

@M Studio Fascinating opinion. I will try to create a video looking at the impact. I don’t think traditional farming will disappear. If farming becomes more efficient then more land may be made available to conserve wildlife. In terms of how sustainable they are, a number of start ups are looking at improving the energy efficiency by using renewable energy and using the organic matter as a heat source in a bio reactor to warm the growing chambers.

    • M Studio says:

@Foodverge by using natural laws we can convert desert into food forests nd can prevent lands from converting into a desert as well. That can ensure a better future as well.

    • Hardstyle Life says:

@Foodverge I may guess it may “disappear” in the moment the market speculators will shift from traditional farming products to indoor cultivation. And that would likely happen when their branding/awareness crossed the verge of making them familiar with the average customer. All combined with the fact that will require to cross the “what I’m disposed to pay for..”, a guy would face every time facing the choice between indoor vs outdoor products

  • Caleb Swartz says:

    what are your sources😡

  • Hardstyle Life says:

Nicely done…very cool idea to organize the video schematically

  • Robert Heins says:

    Yep

  • Mr Jonno says:

I was going to mention cannabis, glad you did. Thing is not to be cutting down our ecosystems and throwing nitrates (limited resource) into our rivers to pollute. There’s far more to it of course as aquaponics is also a VF solution. Meat and dairy is the big one though.

    • Foodverge says:

Hey Mr Jonno, ya I agree. Really looking forward to seeing aquaponics scale. We’re working on a video now on some of the largest aquaponic farms in the world.

  • Kishore K K says:

Many and many thanks to you for your commentary , especially, about the limitations and suitable crops for vertical farming.
