Beautiful! Chives and oregano will winter over and come back again if you put it in ground/ super large pots. I am.struggling with my blueberries and raspberries, thinking they actually need more shade, because in new England we find them in the woods. Might try that

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

They for sure do. Mine grown in full sun struggle. These are blocked by the house and I grow mushrooms under them and that combination has made them so prolific.

  • @shervin6711 says:

I want to try the shortcake raspberry series, because they are supposed to stay more compact, with same size fruit.

  • @shervin6711 says:

I had so much fun growing bok choy but had no idea what to do with it. Love veggies, but often find I have no idea how to use them beyond the ” usual.”

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

Follow along. I have some recipes. Once is a short on leafy green salad you can use with bok choy.

  • @VerticalVictoryGarden says:

Awesome walkthrough. I like the pea trellis setup and may do that myself next available cycle this fall.

p.s. You have more self control than me. I can’t walk through the towers without making an on-the-fly lettuce wrap. 😊

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

Me either! I just had to talk so didn’t want to be munching. Be on the lookout for my next short video. It’s a recipe I made with the brocoli leaves and green onions. It is next level good!!!

My asparagus is coming up like crazy right now, also my apple trees are blooming like crazy and keep praying a late freeze avoids us with allllll the other crazy weather taking place here in southeast MO. The peach trees are still very young so probably a few years out before we get fruit. Peppers need warmth kiddo they do not like cold at all. Got all my tomatoes, peppers, broccoli and cabbage seedlings going beautifully, we can’t plant outside until early May. Getting ready to plant our potatoes this week. 50/50 milk and water will also get rid of aphids. Dandelions coming up like crazy so I need to forage them. I Love your towers. Happy Spring, God Bless kiddo…

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

You have so many amazing things!! I know on the peppers. They are more tolerant in the towers but we will see how they pan out in the long run.

    • @debrathompson2008 says:

@@alternativehomesteadingchannel Thank You, I Love gardening, I’m hoping it warms up just a bit this week after alllll the rain we got for 5 days in a row there should be morel mushrooms coming up, do you get those in your area, do you forage wild greens like ramps I know they grow in the mountains well. We have mulberry growing wild here in my area.

  • @stephanievarnes9428 says:

Do deer bother your tower veggies and herbs?

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

Not the towers. They make noise and i think that keeps animals away. They do nibble on my service berry trees and I have to keep an eye on young trees to make sure they are taking so much it will kill them. I have a lot of diversity so they don’t do any real harm.

  • @elisaangel9789 says:

What do you do with the mulberries? I found some in the neighborhood, other people thought they berries were great, but I didn’t think they had much flavor.

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

They may not have been ripe. When ripe they will turn to juice in your hands and are crazy sweet and flavorful. We just eat them raw. I’ll dehydrate some if the harvest is as huge as it’s looking.

  • @wildflowerwanderer535 says:

    Absolutely lovely set up Steff!
My Hubby surprised me tonight with our first peach trees. I am stoked. Now if it would quit snowing I could get them in the ground lol.
