Green beans don’t like hardly any nitrogen

Hi from Florida!
On sister!
Berkey water filtration system.
Y’all stay warm and safe,God Bless.
I have found with my green beans I grow in the garden they like around 60 degrees best and they are a heavy nitrogen feeder. On the counter top one couldn’t you DIY your own grow cups with like a paper cup or coffee filter maybe???
I’m on permanent disability because of kidney disease. It literally takes everything I make to just pay bills every month ($1700) with very little left over. I don’t receive anything such as food stamps or assistance, and own my nearly 100 year-old home (payment of $332/mo on a 15 year loan – otherwise I would be living in my Kia Soul car). I grow and preserve most of my food or take advantage of sales if I’m not able to grow traditionally because of my health. I don’t ever eat out, get coffee away from home or any of that because the money isn’t there. No cable tv, land line phone, subscriptions, new clothing, makeup, etc.
My question is, how are people on a very limited income able to grow food in this manner? I can’t imagine anywhere else in my budget that I can cut to even begin to save money for a purchase like this.
Any ideas would be appreciated! Thank you
Hello, am in similar situation but in an apartment with morning only sun exposure- a small balcony. I suggest getting some sprouting jars and micro green seeds. Lentil, sunflower 🌻, etc seeds sprouted have protein and other nutrition for not a lot of money. Potatoes are pretty easy to grow, lots of books and videos on these. I make a lot of vegetable soups. Wishing you all the best 🌿🙏🏼💕
I just moved and left 5 gardens. Went to dollar store and bought a big planter on clearance and planted some romaine, butter crunch, kale. You can also use a storage tote. Take off the lid, drill holes in the bottom, fill with potting soil and plant your lettuces.that would be in spring for outside. Cover with a blanket if it dips too low in temps and remove next morning.
Great information; thanks for sharing! Outdoor gardens are a lot of work, so I do mostly perennial plants outside. I will check out the tower gardens in Canada. Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦🌲
“Let the cat out of the bag” is to reveal a secret. It took me all my dishwashing time to think of the phrase you might have meant, and I decided it was to “open Pandora’s box” meaning that an action (opening Pandora’s box) will create uncontrollable problems.
Thank you for the info about the peppers. We use green peppers alot. Sickening what “they” are doing to us!
You might try a plant app on your phone. You can take a picture of it, and it will diagnose what’s wrong with the plant and tell you what it needs 🙂
Looks like a lot of Baker Seeds. I use their flower seeds
Be very careful with some seeds for micro greens. I remember reading tomatoes and night shades are poisonous as micro greens🥰
I found out in Nov, in N.W.Pa Sharon Pa they had taken old steel Mill Westing house, growing food like you. Help out food box’s. And elder people. May be restrants. They our use lots of lights. So neat!
