Are the big bins food safe plastic?
Yes—he’s very good about that. He has a good set of FAQ videos, too.
I have some and would like to grow vegetables in them
Hmm those bags are LOOKING A LITTLE LIGHT lol
Thank you so much for continuing to share your journey and knowledge! ❤
I’ve been doing kratky for a very long time. It works great with many vegetables. I can’t seem to find any nutrients to keep my basil alive. I end up with root rot. So I grow basil in just plain water. I also overwinter some plants in only water like, wandering jews, coleus and also some house plants that I took cuttings from and neglected to plant! Kratky in dark amber Mason jars is my go to.
You made me feel SO MUCH BETTER!!! I can’t grow Basil in anything BUT water (I have to use aquarium water treatment to our tap water bc of high chlorine/minerals). I put gaffers tape on one side of jars to block sun, keep the other side untaped so I can see roots, and it grows like a weed.
Mine die in soil, in hydro…anything else I’ve tried.
Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone.
Do your white buckets produce any algae?
Love this stuff Mike 😘😘😘
Thank you sir.
I’d love to see an updated video on the off-grid towers. I know you’ve learned a lot, and I sure could benefit from your latest thoughts about size, number of holes, pool noodles vs cloning collars, etc. I’ve been collecting buckets, and they’re sitting in my garage.
As far as I can tell you never mention anything about pH or chlorine in city water. I have a whole house water filter that removes the chlorine but after I mix my master blend in a 5-gallon bucket the pH is over 9 so I have to use vinegar to bring the pH down.
I’m having a lot of trouble growing seedlings with enough root to reach the solution the only thing working for me is growing them in dirt which is a real pain in the big amount and wash the dirt off. I’ve tried Coca-Cola I’ve tried paper towels I’ve tried clay balls The Roots just don’t grow long enough. The plant is 2 and 3 in long with three or four five leaves and The Roots one quarter inch
Just an idea for the problem with the rain filling up the reservoir: Drill a hole in the bucket at half the height and put in a cheap tap. Once the plant has absorbed the nutrient solution below that point, just open the tap and leave it like that until you put in the next plant. That way you can never overfill and rain isn’t going to be a problem anymore.
Great information as always. I am always excited when you post a new video
Great video explains the Kratky method very well 🤙
I saw one of your videos a while back. I couldn’t afford soil. And i couldnt afford, rockwool, pebbles, or netting cups. I had seeds that i saved from my food, leftover calcium and some leftover Epsom salt. And some miracle grow. I got a pool noodle and gree tomatoes on my balcony.
I invested in a $10 container of masterblend last year and another pool noodle. Got lots more food. Thanks for all of your videos
I love Kratky Hydroponics🥰!!! Is there a video how can you start seeds without soil to grow in a bucket or container hydroponically ?
I get away with a third to a half concentration nutrients. I swap it more often and put used solution on soil plats and trees
