Soil in Aquaponics? Myth Busted with DIY Wicking Bed
This Video is from the Youtube channel: “Rob Bob’s Aquaponics & Backyard Farm”.Β
G'Day Folks. You've probably been told that you can't use soil in aquaponics, well today we're going to debunk that myth.
Well look at a simple DIY wicking bed build, a system that has has soil wicking beds producing veggies for 7+ years, a simple Grow Bag wicking system you can set up right now as well as pointers to help you successfully integrate soil into your aquaponics system.
Soil-based wicking beds allow you to grow crops like potatoes, ginger, and turmeric off to one side allowing your media beds free for fast-growing plants like greens.

Always enjoyable to see new videos from you Rob!
I am using soil in the bottom of my fish tanks. In fact, that is my bio and solids filter.
I have no secondary aerator, or filters of any sort.
i remember Rob’s old soil beds, and the hen house with wire floor to grow greens and stop chickens raking them out, and ( being a southerner ) the big mango tree, that i wanted.
