I’m starting some tests with glass vase marbles to see if I can reduce the smell that clay has for use indoors. I’m using about 3/4 marbles and 1/4 clay at the top. I think the seeds will need the clay to absorb moisture at the start to germinate, but I plan to have the water level below the clay when the plants are growing. It’s cool to see the tests you’ve been running. I might give gravel in the future.
I really appreciate all the experiments you do for us. Especially when it can save us money! Thank you 😊
Thank you, Mike. This is great info! 🪴
Love the idea of gravel. I may have to try. What dilution of nutrients do you use for the micro greens?
I don’t dilute
I bought micro greens from a market last year. Apparently they grow in gravel too. I rinsed my greens and made a sandwich. Broke a molar the second chew of the first bite. Personally I would lean towards the clay balls.
One thing about using gravel: you have to be 100% sure you cut well above the gravel so that none of it winds up in your bowl. Some of the gravel chunks are perfectly sized for tooth cracking!! I bit into one and it was a close call.
That is good information to consider when harvesting.
I agree‼️GOOD TO KNOW, so thank you❗️
Amazing, thank you for sharing .Love your channel , really appreciate you .
Can I attach glass bottles like empty beer bottles to your innovative adapters ? Im trying to use less plastic, thanks .
Yes you can! The refillable longneck fits beer bottles and there are also mason jar adapters

Good stuff‼️
Nice one! I’ve got a stack of screened gravel from old aquariums. Now I can put it to use.
Cheers!
Gotta say l like the way Mike thinks, always considering the reality of keeping costs low, but still getting good results!
Your nutrient solution looks very yellow. Is that something different?
