Hi, I had a similar-ish problem with a regular 72-cell tray and cover. I’m trying a relatively inert media to ‘wick’ up like sphagnum moss (wonderful stuff). Sand might be good too – like a wicking bed, or coir perhaps.

Mine has been perfect so far. Printed the top in transparent PETG with a CR10 S5. Because the walls are thin the print warped once it cooled (basically buckled) but thankfully completed the print successfully. I used an old t-shirt for the wicking material because i wasnt impatient to get it started. Working well, great job as always. Are you tempted to produce these along side the Multi bucket?

I had to wet the center of the mat manually on day 3 post planting when I noticed the soil in the center was still dry. Once wetted, it’s functioned perfectly. The 10×20 tray of brassicas planted a week earlier are not as well developed as the ones in the tray. I am using different nutrients for each.

After finally moving on from baby sitting rockwool, I made a lil ebb and flow out of a thick 120 tray that’s used with 3″ net cups with seeds sown into small Oasis cubes and then surrounded by hydroton. Bit more costly with the micro 50GPH pumps and interval timer, and it takes extra prep work getting going. However, its all worth it when all I need to do is top off the resovoir every week or maybe even 2. No over watering. Uniform growth. No top watering. The Oasis cubes work grewr for germination and can handle very frequent flooding like even every hour.
