Same amount of snow here in my part of Missouri, sad so many have been without power since last weekend’s ice storm. I discovered over on Living Tradition Homestead to do a 50/50 mix of milk and water to get rid of aphids. RoseRed Homestead just did a video on those black plastic containers and kitchen tools having a dangerous chemical in them because of the recycled computers they are made from. I have to net my broccoli and cabbage raised beds because of that white moth causing cabbage worms.

Some people in your chat certainly say some odd things. You don’t sound 180 years old. Of course, I’ve never heard anyone of that age speak. You handle them well, Steffanie

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

The fart comments are really funny. I just picture some 12 year old boy on the other end “prank calling” basically. We had to pick up the phone and call people to do it.

    • @cathyhumphries5870 says:

@@TinyLuvsBostons I would take that as the biggest compliment. Can you imagine how cool it would be to get to listen to someone 180 years wise. I’m 71 and I am so much more interesting to talk to now than any other time in my earlier life. Why, because I know better so I do better. ❤️🙏

  • @cynthiawilliamson5905 says:

I wanted to mention something to you. I went to sprouts today and when I went to pay for it, it asked me did I want to round my total off for the LA fire? maybe somebody you know contact some of the well-known grocery stores and do the same thing for North Carolina? Of course it’s gonna have to go to probably one certain place somebody that is honest that we can trust one of the better places here in Florida is Publix..

  • @1turf32 says:

Great live thanks. Stay warm and safe

  • @shaza6547 says:

You have herbs on the tower with no aphids.

  • @candacecrocker2029 says:

mealy bugs look like very small cotton tuffs. can be eliminated by organic methods with touching each w an alcohol, soaked, cotton-tip.
Or if the surrounding area can allow, & if it is a small area vs an orchard. for a sm area spraying under & over the leaves w a solution of alcohol to water = 1:20 alcohol to water.
Lacewings are a perfect preditor for them as well❤️✌️

This should be everyone’s favorite channel right now! I was balling last night , after watching a few alarming video’s yesterday. Of course I started off here, Steph. talks about what we need to start thinking about with food after all these not so natural disasters in our country. Posted 1st below. I then watched A few others, also posted below. But, here we go. I pray everyone is safe after the cold weather and snow in the Appalachian Mountains last night! 😢 Seeing what Swannanoa still looks like today was horrific! It’s Hard to see Americans going through this! I won’t give Cali. any energy. But I know America’s depend on Cali for alot of our food! As well as Texas, I had no clue that a good part of Texas has been on fire for a year now! It’s now going into Oklahoma which is our meat! So their plans are going well for them, it’s going to be so bad for us! I got on my knees and gave it to Yahuah last night and feel much better today. I’ve been down these rabbit holes for many years now, 9-11-2001 actually. It gets very hard knowing the truth! Ive lost many friends and family because of it. Sometimes knowing “Truth” doesnt feel like a blessing! We’ve been lied to about EVERYTHING! AMERICA IS NOT WHAT I GREW UP LEARNING ABOUT! Which lead me to the last video I posted. Which should make everyone angry! We need to know this! Thank You for your always smiling face, Truth, and knowledge! This Omaha Nebraska, Gma Rolo Loves you and your channel!

    So much info; thanks!

  • @teresal5553 says:

Try a fig tree in the garage as long as you can give it light and temps higher than 50 degrees. They grow well in tall pots, and do produce figs nearly year round, maybe 5-15 figs a week. Had to plant mine outside finally and I never got a fig off of it but the deer visited daily. Hopefully it makes it through the winter and grows taller next spring. The deer will get the fruit until it gets to be over 6’ tall. I’m ready to buy a new baby fig tree this spring!

  • @4MAJAIA says:

I want to get me one of those grow towers with lights. It is so beautifully fruitful!

Another good video, and info 👍. Burr, stay warm.

I have this to say about the resource rich mountains of WNC. The resources there such as lithium and white crystal? (white something I dunno) but apparently the makings of computer chips and the ONLY plentiful source of it in – get this – the ENTIRE WORLD. Those resources would make the 15 minute city of LA slated to host the 2028 Olympics a reality. Nobody in their right mind wants to see a 15 minute city replace beachfront homes in Malibu or anywhere. I saw that Biden appeared in a NEWS interview where he mentioned that he is a great grandpa coinciding with his appearance to respond to the LA fires. Lots of tax payer dollars will be going to rebuilding in the geographic area that was the homes of Hollywood stars. The resources that will be used to make for the SMART city to make that rebuilding happen will come from the rare resources from WNC. I doubt that churches will redirect their efforts from defending the resources of WNC from exploitation into doubling down with corporations and gov into the building of SMART cities in LA.

Growing outside I never worry about pests. Maybe the first year they take out a crop but predator insects always show up and take care of them by year 2. Indoor growing doesn’t have that advantage. The pests find a way in but the predator insects do not.

    • @Yaya-Siùsaidh says:

This way of gardening is unattainable for those of us on fixed incomes and low paying jobs unfortunately. It takes everything I make to get through each month (disabled) + job. No dining out, no stopping for coffee, no cable tv, etc., just the basics. One tower alone is nearly $1,000 and the grow wall is somewhere in the $3K-$5K range. Holy smokes there’s no way.

    Hello my favorite Steffanie!

  • @slewis3963 says:

Love all the videos you post. Very informative! Your information helped us find a church in NC to donate to. Suggest you try a couple of ceilings fans for the garage, with the control on reverse for winter, set on the lowest speed. This moves the heat from the ceiling and down the walls keeping the temperature more even. We use this method in the winter in our home with high ceilings and it works very well. May God continue to bless you and your family and your efforts to help people.

How do the peppers produce fruit without bees, since they are in the garage?

  • @FLIPPER1439 says:

Hello 👋 from Florida near NASA 🚀

  • @susanrarick3583 says:

I would love to see the pumpkins on the tower.
