Pool noodle should work well for the foam option 🤙🏼

  • @SeanCarroll-ny3tv says:

why not just make an arm with a screw lid for a kids juice bottle or similar?

    • @dean6267 says:

This is what I have done with my float valves. The tread is on the valve side drill hole in a kids pop top lid an just use a nut then screw on pop top drink bottle. Worked for me when I had sun damaged floats.

    • @Hoocho says:

      Brilliant

  • @f.a.6975 says:

Nice, i have over 60 autopots in my greenhouses and the valves are starting to die on me. NICENICENICE

    • @gbtv1005 says:

The Hoocho varient or regulare ones? and if you have the Hoocho ones how are they doing after a while of use?

  • @Terabell says:

why not a coke bottle thread / PCO 1881 one so can just recyle water bottles or softdrink bottles?

    • @Hoocho says:

      Brilliant!

    • @katsuninken4458 says:

@HoochoI look forward to this iteration. In regards to the 3d printed float. I thought of 2 possible sealing options. Paint liquid pond liner to the float or seal with UV resin.

Hit the like button if you like this, I wanna see how many likes we can get for this vid. Cheers! Hooch.

And in future vids, likes are free 😂 help a mate out.

  • @The_Privateer says:

To get a FLAT surface on the silicone nubbin, leave the surface built up and proud, then let it cure and slice off the nubbin tip to leave perfectly smooth and flat sealing surface.

  • @wezyap says:

One idea for the floats, print the hollow one and fill it with expanding PU foam. On quick squirt into the float and you are good to go.

  • @reinux says:

    Holy smokes you did it

  • @NightfallSentinel says:

You can use a modifier block in the slicer to make the infill different in the float part, that way you can include it on the same plate. I would also recommend changing the design up a bit to use o-rings instead of the silicone, since they are so cheap and easier to apply.

  • @Zaku186 says:

I dont think its an overstatement to say this is a big deal and going to give a lot of people the chance to get into wicking and hydroponics. Really nice work. One group i immediately think of is teenagers. I think everyone can remember how hard it is to enjoy a hobby when you are 15 and completely 100% broke and you have to come up with a sales pitch every time you ask your parents for something and it just keeps getting harder.

  • @Zaku186 says:

Also i just noticed youtube magically unsubscribed me. I was scrolling back up from the comments and noticed i wasn’t subscribed anymore. Really annoying.

  • @papatomicjusz says:

Idea: Get a silicone string, and cut into plugs.

  • @AxolotlsKeeper says:

    Hi Hoocho, great video 🙂
you can also leave a small hole in a float valve and spray closed foam inside, so it will float and look good 🙂

  • @thekbshouse says:

I’d recommend using aquarium silicon. The bathroom silicons have anti mold toxins in them you don’t want to consume.

  • @LynxSnowCat says:

All of my factory-made toilet floats actually have open bottoms (are inverted cups) so that water cannot get trapped inside, with a spike from the top to the surface to drain condensation that would be trapped by surface tension to become mould/slime growth.
So far the floats have outlived the valves they came with; And none of them have malfunctioned from water getting trapped inside. (Limescale on the outside however…)

  • @MindTrip7 says:

Please make a low profile one that can be used in smaller trays 🎉

  • @TheRealAirnova says:

How good is this? Amazing!! Thank you hoocho

  • @BlueWolfDaYooper says:

Ever think of getting into toilet repair kits? 😂

  • @CarloL525 says:

This is amazing! And just in time! Just bought a 3d printer so I can try out Hoocho projects, and I don’t think there’s float valve here.

  • @hamijoh says:

    Great work! Very impressive.
