I have the mother plant. Thanks for the Video.

  • @mneff69 says:

That was a excellent video. I’m the one that commented on one of your last video about covering your container. You hit all base’s this time. Excellent for the beginners. Lookin forward for next video. One thing you didn’t mention is that some do the wicky kraky method with the wick in the water to the net cup. Wich doesn’t matter to me.

    • @epicgardening says:

I remember you Mark! Next video will be about how to farm on a quarter of an acre…it’s a long one. Hope you enjoy! And yes, the wick kratky is probably even more efficient. I mention in my 2 Liter Bottle video.

Thanks for.spendimg your time to make.the vids. Thumbs up.

  • @carolinehonse35 says:

Great video! I’m hooked. πŸ™‚ I love the idea of not wrapping the jars. It seems to me, a newbie at hydroponics, that if you are doing short time plants like lettuce and such, (20-40 days), you don’t need the wrapping. Now I’m off to check out your other videos. Thanks.

    • @epicgardening says:

That’s my logic as well. This is a SIMPLE system, I want to keep the annoyances to a minimum πŸ™‚

    • @guyandoren says:

Caroline. I’ve done it both ways (many times) ie: Kratky basil with 100% light block and Kratky basil with no light block. There is no question whatsoever that light block is essential even within a 40 day grow window. The only containers that I ever found algae in were those exposed to light. The block has to be 100% to prevent algae growth. Algae is not fatal to the plant but it does reduce growth/yield and in some cases it may contribute to more harmful pathogens being introduced to the system.

  • @BencozakaKamagore says:

    Epic intro ! Good job

  • @scruffie9763 says:

What you used the Nutrient of hydroponic can you be able to use just the normal fertilizer ? If can = how much I need on the NPK, Thank you. You explain everything so clear and easy , thanks again for all the knowledge. Newcastle AUπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Hi Kev, enjoy your knowledge and presentation, subscribed from NSW Australia

I have young herbs (basil, chives, chamomile, lemongrass) that I bought last week and planted in too small of a container w/little drainage. I’d like to convert them into hydroponics. In this case I wouldn’t need the rock wool and just carefully clean the roots and shove them into the net pot…is that right? Thanks.

  • @pjanoo6973 says:

That jug is genius for pouring the solution,I’ve been using a 5 gallon bucket and its a 2 hand messy and hard to carry choice.

  • @enlightenedhealthcareguru2575 says:

What nutrients and what proportions per jar? Thanks!

  • @tomsmith9281 says:

With the LED lighting, how long to you leave it on for every day, and what is the light level at at the basil (lux? or how many watts, how close do you bring the light to the leaves?)

  • @ravi5297 says:

Nice vdo. I would like to know about the pH and EC of the water with nutrients. What nutrients do you use. Can you tell in detail about the grow lights and if a humidifier is necessary?

  • @sonyamorud6241 says:

I swear everytime i have some question about a plant you ALWAYS have an answer! I’m off to propagate my neglected basil plant and get it into leca

  • @rabbitez says:

Pretty sure you’d be better off using opaque jars because I think light on the roots can have a negative impact on growth. Maybe you could try painting or duct taping half of the jars to see how they compare.

  • @lukenovay1785 says:

That’s cool. I didn’t know you could grow it like that

  • @elainebruckman9888 says:

Love basil, always buy live plants. With this method can the plant keep going by just cutting leaves as needed?

  • @sakesama1 says:

Dude, I am a U.S.Army Disabled Veteran, I have combed the net for info on growing Basil & other Plants, for food and sale, I live in the Asian South Pacific, with the coming of the American food shortage, you will do good, You should plant, Purple yams, or sweet potato’s, in the ground, people will walk right over them and NOT even know they are standing on Food, anyway I absolutely LOVE your video here, it has really inspired to run with this, And Basil is a BIG cash crop here ! In Italy the Italians who raise Basil for an Herb or to make Pesto are Really RICH ! Thanks again for you help !

  • @rizaliedianneestipona6045 says:

Wooww thank you for this informative video about hydroponically growm basil!❀

  • @alvint4944 says:

    Hi! Thanks for this video!

Just new to the plants world πŸ™‚

Question, can we also use just pebbles instead of hydroton at the top part?

Also, can we make our own nutrient solution for plants in water? Maybe using stuff we have at home? πŸ™‚

  • @anthonymendez2594 says:

Love this idea! What nutrients are you using for this method?
