Thanks again John… You were alot of help! My house feels normal again!

  • Vladimir Rep says:

I bought the 12 head. I LOVE IT! and so do my kids. My house is sooo much nicer with some humidity, and I can’t wait for Halloween. πŸ™‚

  • William McMahon says:

John is awesome! Great guy who helped me out alot! I would buy from him again even if his prices weren’t the best out there!

  • Scott Baker says:

If you run the hole saw backwards when cutting plastic it won’t grab like that and will leave a cleaner hole.

  • Jane Fisher says:

Hey man, I was wondering if you could explain in a bit more detail about setting up the additional reservoir with a 7″ mini float and a 1/4″ npt valve. I’ve never attempted anything that involves a set up such as this, and i cannot find a 7″ mini-float (did you mean the length of the arm on the float?). And how/where (inside or out) to attatch it to the npt valve. Thanks!

    • Jane Fisher says:

Also, I assume this would work in a 10 or 15 gallon bucket?

Here is a link to our new floats. They are smaller than the float in the video, and allow for smaller applications. They can be mounted inside or outside the water tank.Β

You basically hook your water source to the float via a npt valve or whatever fitting works for your application. Β The float is attached at the level you need to keep your water at.Β

      Hope this helps, JohnΒ

Unfortunately we are out of the float until mid February 2015. You can find the other ones by searching mini float on google.Β

It’s cool, but I think it works a little too good for house humidification! Maybe something to use in a green house though!

  • Jason Mayne says:

https://youtu.be/L5FTCsW9Zu8 – Finally put it all together… Very easy. Save yourself the trouble of figuring out a fan and just get one off their site. Have to admit, this thing is impressive! Took a leap and got the 12-head and WELL worth the $. I ordered direct off the house of hydro website, which, as they stated, has the best price/value I found. The fog output is insane, but here in Washington, it takes every bit of that fog to get the house above 15% humidity. I have two accurite hygrometers and have been using a hot mister and a Honeywell Quietcare to try to up the humidity in the house, only achieving 28% before I got this unit. Now we’re at 50% and able to go higher, but I turn it off around there. The cats don’t even mind the thing since it’s quiet, and their fan is quiet. And, for the first time in months, I can pet the cat without getting a “zap” from static.

  • DragonsREpic says:

Hey I was casually interested in ultrasonic mist makers just to screw with for a hobby. I am interested in high output. I might just use LED lights strips. Also do you know any that have high mist output that is variable? If not I might just cut the wire(s) needed and run ~12v dc directly from batteries (im a huge nerd)

    • The House of Hydro says:

We have a bunch of different models up to 9 L per hour. If you check on our website store there is a mist output controller for sale. This will allow you to adjust the rate of output. Thanks!

  • Adolf Sackey says:

I want to buy one for a hot climate. Can you provide a link to where I can buy the mist maker?

  • Howard Herscovici says:

Hi, I am looking to use your units to humidify a mushroom grow room. Are you able to put me in touch with anybody using it this way. I see on your website that over 25 percent of people who buy the units use them for mushroom farming, yet I see very little on their actual use. I am in particular wondering if the transformers are waterproof, and if not, what people do with them. As well some direction in calculating outputs necessary to maintain a certain relative humidity, factoring in air exchange. Thanks!

    • The House of Hydro says:

Hi, yes, we have a bunch of mushroom growers that use them. I definitely can’t put you in touch with any on youtube. The best way to get a hold of me is John@thehouseofhydro.com. They are the same as using a very high powered cool mist humidifier though. It’s pretty simple DIY and completely automatic if you use our controllers as well.

As far as choosing the right size, the biggest factors in choosing a mist maker is the air exchange, target/current humidity, and construction material of the room. Unsealed concrete and wood can really absorb a lot of humidity, and rooms with a lot of air exchange can be hard to keep up with.

Smaller units can overcome room material after some time, but heavy air exchange is harder to keep up with. If steady levels are needed, it’s usually better to go bigger so that you can regain normal levels quickly.

A specific sized mist maker is usually hard to recommend because every setup is pretty different, but If you let me know more about the area, I’ll be able to help a whole lot more. Most small (closet size) grows can be done with a 3 or 5 disc. Mid size (bedroom sized) can be done with a 6-9 and larger (shipping container) grow can use (2) 6 disc units or one 12 disc.

To make a fully automated humidifier you will need the mist maker kit, our 120mm fan(fully encapsulated waterproof fan kit), a humidistat (to automatically turn the machine on/off when humidity is needed) , and our float valve (to keep the water level full)

      Hope that helps some,
      John

Would it be possible to control the mist intensity if you add a VR to the ultrasonic component itself? Then you would be able to control the mist intensity as well as the fan speed to find the right humidity setting for a room or house. The ability to lower the ultrasonic frequency could also allow it to run indefinitely without requiring a cool down.

  • Luke DeStefano says:

Ok, I’ve got a question for you guys. Does the temperature of the water in the bin effect the temperature of the fog?? I’m going to be humidifying a fruiting chamber for mushrooms and i’d ideally like to tackle humidity and temperature with the same system…Have there been any experiments with this? Does 60 degree water produce 60 degree fog?? I’d love to know!

  • NourishThyself says:

Can blowing with too strong of a fan diminish how much mist comes out?

  • John Jake Molyneux Flumerfelt Iii aka Maquiadora says:

I’ve got a house of hydro ultra sonic humidifier set up with a 5 gallon bucket and a lid. Its using an 80mm fan and 3 transducer ring and it keeps all of my cloning, and seedling germination, and seed germination up to speed. I’ve got several tropical plant strains sitting there in vegetation, growing quickly and healthily. Thanks House of Hydro!!!!

  • GrowingGreen says:

Great video! I’m building one too! Do you think it makes a difference having the in/out airflow on the sides rather than on top? It makes maintenance easier when there’s nothing mounted on the lid, so it can be easily taken off. Thanks!

    • The House of Hydro says:

Hi, no I don’t think it would make a difference. Just make sure that your fan is mounted up high so you can keep as much water in the container as possible. The water acts as a cooling agent for the transducer oh, so you need to keep as much as you can in there. If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me an email at john@thehouseofhydro.com Thanks!

    • GrowingGreen says:

@The House of Hydro Thanks! I did notice the water getting slightly warmer indeed! I estimate it’s in about 7 liters of water at the moment.

    • The House of Hydro says:

@GrowingGreen What size mist maker do you have? A single disc unit is ok in 7 liters, but you should have more water if it’s a larger unit.

  • Modern Mycelium says:

About to set up an 8×8 fruiting mushroom fruiting room with in the next few days. What would be the recommended unit size , and is there a package I can buy with everything I’d need to get it up and running ? Mossy Creek highly recommended your product

  • Nick C says:

After making a hole for the cords, how would you recommend sealing the majority of that area off such that most of the mist is funneled thru the actual vent instead of both the hole for cords and vent?

    • The House of Hydro says:

Most people just use some closed cell foam. It’s easy to smash into the void of your hole where the wires run through. It fills everything up pretty good, it is easy to pull out and clean if needed.

  • Autumn Anetsberger says:

is there a reason to have the holes that far towards the outside edge and not slightly closer to the center? I have mine marked for the holes being a few inches closer to the middle but want to make sure it’s not going to be an issue before I cut

    • The House of Hydro says:

Hi, no real reason aside from the fact that the fogger can splash a little bit. If you don’t have exhaust tubes hooked up it can splash out of the holes if the water level is high and the fogger is right under them.
