How To Hydroponics – S02E18 Solar Panels For a Greenhouse

This Video is from the Youtube channel: “HowToHydroponics”.

Getting the new solar panels connected seemed to go alright. Looking forward to seeing how the new battery banks preforms also.

Too bad about the pumpkin hopefully it comes back ok! But awesome video on the solar setup!

  • mediamaker2000 says:

Yikes! The battery connection to charge controller comes first! Then connect the panels! Never the reverse! Danger Will Robinson!

  • Gaultherian says:

    @redicculus
if you watch previous vids you see he is wanting to grow the pumpkin hydroponicaly hence the size of the block

  • googlepluscansuckadick says:

@redicculus Yea :L you want to watch his last vid. He is growing it via Hydro and he thinks its going to be a big one. He paid $12 for one single seed in hope it has the same genetics as the 1200 pound pumpkin it came from 😛

  • CommonZense says:

nice man, I am looking forward to see your hydrop getting filled! 🙂
NOTE: If your solar panels are facing south, isn’t your greenhouse facing east? Any specific reason for this?

  • Vi says:

thank you for “so, let’s not waste any time” I hope everyone does that

  • InrDmons2011 says:

Can’t get enough of your videos. You def. motivate me to get a setup like this going VERY soon! Cheers

  • YouMockMe says:

I just saw your first video…

Does this mean you’re almost 100% solar?

    • HowToHydroponics says:

This setup you’re seeing here is 100% solar including a bubbler that runs 24/7. Worked quite well.

  • Boss Hog says:

Did you buy a kit? If so, who did you go through and overall price? (if you don’t mind)

    • HowToHydroponics says:

The panels and charge controller came together. The 12vDC timer was ordered online. The 12v pump was purchased from a local cheapo hardware store. Its a relatively simple system with basic components. Batteries and solar panels will cost you the most and depending on the size of what you are trying to do price will vary. If I had to estimate a price I’d say $250-$500CAD. The system in this video with just the parts I listed was maybe around $375

    • Boss Hog says:

      sweet, inspired.

  • Joz Np says:

how long does the batteries last with the lights on

  • Shantay Prueeissen says:

IF you want to make it by yourself just go to InpliX page.

  • Chad Kendall says:

Stupid question, but where do you then plug things in to the battery….ie, fan, heater, bubbler? This set up looks easy and inexpensive but I just didn’t see where an outlet might have been? Thanks!

  • Trishia U says:

neem oil with soap (blue kind) …spray it in the evening or early in the morning. that will take care of the problem

  • Adam Richardson says:

Maybe this is covered in another episode, but is there any way you could show how to connect your devices to the battery? I don’t exactly see a socket to plug lights into and I don’t think I would connect them directly to the battery either. I understand this is a stupid question, but your video is the first video I’ve seen in a long time that is comprehensive and not intimidating.

    • Adam Richardson says:

And of course my devices I mean your lights and your pump. Sorry I wasn’t more clear.

    • HowToHydroponics says:

Adam I run only a few items off this system so they are all connected directly to the battery (12v pump & 12v timer). However a cheap solution that comes to mind to avoid connecting directly to the battery would be to use a 12v car outlet hub. Simply put the 12v cigarette lighter adapter on the items you want to connect to it. A lot of these adapters even have the fuses built right in so it would add another level of protection to your devices. https://www.aliexpress.com/popular/hub-adapter-car.html hope that gives you some ideas! -Matthew

  • Kent Morren says:

What type of batteries are you using? Could you advise me on what type to use?

  • Carlos Davila says:

how do you tell how ‘full’ the battery is?

  • Chicken gee says:

how u make the adapter ?

  • muffdriver69 says:

are those batteries lead acid or lithium?
