The big question is, how much ppm your reservoir have?

You can multiply the EC by 1000 then by 0.5 (or 0.7 depending on ppm formula) to get ppm. So their EC was 2.035 =2035*0.5= 1017, or 2035*0.7=1424

Yes can do without water pump but make sure you leave couple inches between the water and the cover for oxygen , coconut husk not the best growing media , true Hydroponic never use dirt. If you want try fertigation system

I just watched this video and the one about cucumbers. Why does the water have to be changed for watermelon but not cucumber?
cucumber will take one month to grow and harvest, melon will take more time .
