Thank you for showing people how to recycle styrofoam containers for growing herbs,(and other plants as well)! I’ve used styrofoam cups to plant seeds in and then placed the cups directly into the earth; styrofoam breaks down more readily in the earth than other plastics. I believe that Perlite is made from styrofoam; It is used to lighten and airreate the soil. I’ve also used Cardboard egg cartons to plant seeds in. They disinagrate in the earth. Even though I’m 70 years old, in a wheelchair and my 69 year old husband is crippled, (but still walking), we are now Inspired to do container gardening again when we are able to move to a wheelchair accessible apartment with a sunny patio!
