If you can leave Babylon…this could honestly become a little business for everyone along side feeding yourself with the food shortages to come. Remember Psalm 91:1
With the most high anything is possible. No fear. And peace and love to your hearts.

    • Michael Carter says:

@Artur Arruda You could always do a small system inside using fish tanks and grow lights.

  • Nick Farrell says:

    Relaxing and informative video. Thanks!

  • Jim Bougard says:

What a nice and concise video! I’ve been experimenting with aquaponics for about two years. The addition of iron and seaweed to the system is new information to me. That might explain why some things don’t taste quite as good as I would like, from my system. Thanks for the tip!

  • Albert Sew says:

Hi, your video has inspire me to have this Aquaponics project during MCO3.0. Thanks !

    I have few Qs
    1. for tilapia tank, is there a minimum tank size ?
    2. Grow bed, any specific size and Height to best work with Bell Siphon ?
    3. What is the Bell Siphon measurement vs the size (height) of the grow bed ?
    4. can I cascade multiple Grow beds ? Parallel or Serial ?

Thanks for this great video !!!

    • DIY & GARDEN WITH BIBI says:

      Hi Albert thanks for watching.
1-In my opinion 50 gallon and above, you can use plastic barrels
Plastic Barrels A popular, low-cost option many early aquaponics gardeners have used is the 55-gallon plastic barrel, in order to use 55-gallon barrels for your system, you’ll need to cut them
Grow beds are usually created by cutting the barrels in half lengthwise. Fish tanks can be created by cutting out the end containing the bungholes, leaving the sturdy ring in place to provide structural integrity
Once you’ve cut the barrel, you may find the plastic begins to sag and deform. It is common to support the base of the barrel with boards. You can also screw the cut edge to something (like the half-barrel next to it) to prevent sagging
2-A grow bed is any tray, tube, or tank in which your plants grow. However, deep grow beds will produce more vigorous plants, yielding harvests roughly 20 percent larger than shallow trays
Aquaponics grow beds should be about 12 inches deep. This gives adequate room for almost any root system
3-An auto-siphon is an automatic way to quickly drain a grow bed once the water level has reached the desired level. Auto-siphons don’t have any moving parts, so they don’t need electricity.
4- both can its depend on your system design.

      There is 1 more Q that i missed out….
      1. Where did you get the tilapia fries from in KL ?
Went to some aquarium shops, they only selling minimum qty like 500.

    • DIY & GARDEN WITH BIBI says:

@Albert Sew I bought for RM 10 only, at the aquarium shop seri kembangan area

  • Botakzai87 says:

What happens to the solid waste that build up in the swirl filter? Will they get broken down completely ? Or you need to clean it occasionally? Also do you need to change the water often?

  • Alan Bright says:

What a great video! It’s the future system of all homes I believe, love it!

  • Vincent Lim Ji Cai says:

Great video!!! Watched your 2nd video and got some questions.
What is the ratio for the fish: vegetables grown would you suggest?
With this ratio, how do I determine the size of the water container i will need to start?
Can the nutrient water be used to grow non-leafy greens such as tomato?

  • CND Marksmen says:

Is there an ideal or optimal number of fish per plant?

  • Sherine Bernard Bennett says:

Great video with step by step instructions. Thank you

  • misspandesal says:

Amazing and informative video. Thank you for the time you took to explain everything you did and why. Awesome teacher!

  • Nathan Morriston says:

Nice video. It would be nice to also add a bubble diffuser or an aerator to increase tilapia and plant growth. Diffusers are probably not needed on a system as small as this one but a lot of processes can be automates with sensors and controllers.

Hi! I have a few questions. What size is your fish tank? Where did you get your 6 gallon bucket for the filter? What are the dimensions (how long and how wide) are the pipes and parts to build the siphon and bucket filter? Thanks a bunch!

    • DIY & GARDEN WITH BIBI says:

      Hi there !
I used 100 Gal water tank you better use bigger than mine . 120/150 Gal is great .
For the Buckets I bought from the local stores.
For the bell siphon I use 25 mm PVC pipe and Buckhead fitting .
For better understanding about the bell siphon watch this video … I explained about the bell siphon, doing great till now..
