I’m so glad I have my garden towers up and growing beautifully.

  • @nlawrence323 says:

I need to get a raised garden bed for the atrium where the towers are.

  • @charlesmiddleton3247 says:

Since losing my job, home, property back a few years after the 2008 planned resession… I’ve learned to live minimally and buy locally along with survival essentials. Not having a stable roof over my head since 2012, living in a tent or my truck… I can still be prepared! Never give up and NO FEAR ppl. Help one another and learn the “old way” like our ancestors did. Great information and video! Semper Fidelis!

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

Thank you for sharing your story! You are so right!! You would fit in perfectly in WNC. Many live the way you are. Are you familiar with WOLFing?

    • @charlesmiddleton3247 says:

@alternativehomesteadingchannel  No Mame, I am not familiar with WOLFing. Thank you for providing what you do to help others see or wake up and growing their own food etc. I’ve been a survivalist since I got out of the Marine Corps in 75 and learned to live off the land like my grandparents did. My skills are in gardening, animal husbandry, carpentry, welding, mechanical repair, medical ( RN experience), outdoor survival. Please let me know if anyone could use me to help. I was a medical team leader with the Red Cross in 2005 in southern Mississippi ( hurricaine Katrina relief), so my experiences I know are still useful. Take care and God Bless. Semper Fidelis!

  • @traceythompson4230 says:

So glad you mentioned you once lived in FL. This has been one of the reasons we have avoided food storage. My parents had tried to do it down here and had the problem you mentioned. It is a bit more complicated with this heat and humidity. Where can I find quality resources on food storage in Florida?

    • @frid123 says:

Is it possible to “ducktape” the space where they lay their eggs?
Using glue or silicone to seal the “crack” between the bucket and the tape?
It’s just a thought, I have no idea if it would work! 😊
I live in a cooler part of the world myself …
Maybe also use oxygen absorbers and moisture absorbers (silica gel packs) in the buckets to make it harder for bugs to develop?
Again – just thoughts and questions – I have no own experience of this… 😊🌸

  • @BWell247 says:

Good video, thank you! I’ve definitely learned to stock what we eat, not what we might eat or use. I’m learning how to grow what we eat AND what will actually grow in our shady, rocky, clay soil. We eat what’s in season. I vacuum seal dry goods in mason jars and store them without bands after having a moth infestation in my food storage pantry. Learn as you go, don’t give up, trust God, learn from others, try different methods, one thing at a time 😊

    Enjoyed the video, great content.

I do a lot what you’re doing for preparedness. Next step is to start hydroponics systems growing leafy greens, herbs and flowers. Very excited to learn new things. Thank you to all light workers securing a positive timeline for humanity’s ascension.

  • @BrigetteFranklin says:

This was a great video, my friend very informative for people who don’t have a clue and you broke it down really well so they can understand it better and it’s not all prepper talk which I think makes so many people bristle and turn away so I am forwarding this video to everyone on my contacts and on my Facebook page

I’m in Oz, in a month I’ll have 17 towers, thanks for all the help to do this ❤

  • @lindadykes4040 says:

Hello. You have a blessed day too. I just ate a tomato that I grew in my tower. Thank you for turning me on to my first tower. God bless you and your family ❤️

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

This made my day!! A fresh tower tomato…..I have envy!! I haven’t even put mine in yet.

  • @shaza6547 says:

2022 our 5 supermarkets went under 14.5 metres of water and two weeks later 12.8 metres. Our whole town. No efpos, mobile, fuel, services or a way to get to them. We were high and dry but still very effected, no death toll given but with roofs and street signs under water, at night, pple were trapped in roofs. Makes you thank God you are a prepper. Helene victums so devestating, thoughts with them ❤

  • @mimiashford5544 says:

Oh my gosh… those towers are $700 EACH!!!! YIKES. We’ll have to stick with our small beds, pots & a few green stalks. The book “A year without a Grocery Store” is an excellent, eye opening read.

    • @a.p.5429 says:

Its different but plastic totes at thrift stores for 3 or 4 dollars are good to grow in. You tubers Robbie and Gary show how to set them up cheaply. Self Sufficient Me channel too. Looks like it wouldn’t work but it really does. Good luck.

    • @comicalhomestead says:

@@a.p.5429Robbie & Gary are awesome. I was just talking with my husband about the way they do their gardening a couple of days ago. They are awesome.

    • @mimiashford5544 says:

@@a.p.5429 We’ve grown in totes before and the problem was, there was no drainage.. and mold grew in there…. hard to cut holes in that rigid plastic bc it usually just cracks & stays together. Laundry baskets, however, lined with mesh, DOES work especially well for potatoes.

    • @SunshineCountryChickens says:

@@mimiashford5544 Melt drain holes in plastic with a hot nail or soldering iron

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

Thanks for the book read suggestion! Yeah, the towers are an investment. The ROI is a year if you learn to grow on them full time but it’s still an investment up front for sure.

  • @txspacemom765 says:

I have a small stockpile. I am Italian but live in Texas, so my pantry is a bit different but it’s all the things I love. I did get some extra espresso beans today! YUM! I am different in what I purchase but I am ready.

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel says:

I bet you have the most amazing purchases being Italian!

    • @txspacemom765 says:

@alternativehomesteadingchannel  it’s really basics..pasta, abborio rice, cheese, canned tomatoes of all kinds, olive oil, beans, garlic, flours to make pasta and pizza dough, different olives, espresso, sugar..just by a little extra 2x a month..it adds up

    • @txspacemom765 says:

@@alternativehomesteadingchannel this week was extra espresso and some almond cookies 🙂 and dark chocolate .

  • @artistknownaslisa says:

Thank you so much for really spelling out the way it is.

I am woefully unprepared. I am trying. I’m taking steps, trying to learn things. You are very important in that aspect. I’m going to learn as much as I can.

You are a blessing and I’m glad I found you. 💛

  • @belieftransformation says:

Wise words & I am fairly prepared here, too. I’m in my 7th decade so I know what I need to store for basic living needs. Our country just had a federal election & things need to change but it’s another reason to trust in God. You’re teaching so many. Blessings to all🤗🇨🇦🌻

  • @belieftransformation says:

I have put my front lawn into a permaculture garden with berries, perennial food & herbs. I’m in Canada so we can only grow in the spring/summer. After adding to it for 5 years, it’s coming well. My back yard has many apple trees so it’s too shaded for many annuals. I have raspberries, Haskaps & other berries that work in partial shade.
