Very true east is greener than west. Towns are much more spaced out as well on the west . More ranching on west of the Missouri River and more farming on the east . It is very cold and larger towns can be a bit away . I grew up in north central SD . In a small town that the closest mall or Walmart is a hour and a half away . Grocery stores can be a bit of a drive as well ! My home town it is a 30 minute drive .
