Politics are irrelevant especially once you retract from the system. Homeschooling solves 50% of the politics problems.

    • @ARouser15 says:

As a man who was homeschooled 9 out of 12 years, dropped out at g11, then completed my diploma at 26 through ICS, with a 92% avg in 42 courses, of my own accord…. I approve this message!!

The public school system has some serious faults happening and its making people insane. I couldnt stand it there. Way better off doing home correspondence or home schooling. Even self educating, which is probably the greatest strength you develop from homeschooling.

Man I really enjoy this series that you are doing, very fascinating!

Alberta is crazy expensive right now. With many people moving from other provinces (because of politics) the averages have skyrocketed. There are properties but all the good ones are unattainable to the average Joe without a massive down-payment. My 2 cents.

Check epa super fund sites intentionally put on the water way heads

I moved to northern bc from Vancouver, and I wish I had done it sooner

  • @franmidi says:

Thanks for your insight! Pennsylvania has/had a $300.00 exemption for homesteading. I lost my house due to this absurd law. I am actively researching homesteading places that offer the full property amount.

You are so right about that evening aspect. Our place is above Kootenay lake and we have a SE aspect. I cherish that mountain behind me blocking out that 7:00 sun on a 32 degree day! Also wanted to mention about the big and I mean huge ag in that Fraser valley. You mentioned the population but didn’t mention that. Some property around Chilliwack might look attractive to people who don’t know better.

  • @Islandwaterjet says:

Two vital important points here in BC that is different to other areas:
    1. Riparian restrictions. Cannot disturb lands within 30 meters of a water body. That means any stream, lake, wetland etc. That means no roads or anything else within that 30 meters. For example neighbors property is 5 acres but with all the setbacks the land is impossible to build on the setbacks all overlap.
    2. Homeowner Protect Office. If you are going to build your own house we are required to write a 100 question exam and pay their $460 blackmail fee. Yes, the building legislation is so onerous we even have to write a 100 question exam.

  • @bobmonztr says:

Avoid any areas within any city/town limits, some BC towns by-law officers come to your private property and say you cannot live in a RV on your private property. Cranbrook? or Castlegar? or both.
I would avoid ALR land, who needs restrictions. In BC the 120-year-old mining act allows authorized mining companies to come mine your property, you can stop that by buying your own tracer claim, or keep bees or crops, then they cannot dig up your land. I think someone dug up Bill Bennets yard, he should have changed the act when he was minister of Mines.
I was going to do a video rant about the clear-cut areas in BC, I have been looking at BC maps for 10 years and I don’t see the brown spots turning green, good job BC forestry.
Try and keep your supply route short, my grocery run is 22mins away. If you are elderly might want to get really close to an ambulance station.

My price 114k for 4 acres close to Midway, have seen 80acres on Louise Lake 500k and recently saw 800000 acres for 500k in Bella Coola. Nice wide range of options.

Thank you so much, Curtis. If you’re doing this for most provinces/states, I really can’t wait for your Nova Scotia insights. Just moved back here after 12 years in BC, but haven’t considered it that much from this angle yet.

  • @Victoriaxx08 says:

What about Dawson creek area? Or fort Nelson?

  • @dahkneelah says:

Avoid campbell river, unless you like to live i darkness for 5 months of the year.

  • @jimidcanada says:

BC is the California of Canada. Socialist-Liberal mindset, makes things very expensive.

  • @ryansoo4000 says:

I haven’t watched the video yet, but I’m guessing Surrey as the worst place to live 🙂

  • @krista5597 says:

I am on the outer FRINGE of the circle. On the border of zones and also the zone reference used here. I have plants I put out early and accept they maybe sacrificed. So far so good this year lol They are extra hardy with some touchy weather we have had
