Any other low protein athletes out there?
This Video is from the Youtube channel: “The Aeroponic Tower Channel”.
PROTEIN! That simple word ruled my life for many years!
As a plant-based athlete, I was forever on the protein guilt trip. More is always better in the gym.
I have been a gym athlete since I was 14 which was right around the same time I became plant-based.
But, the constant battle in my mind to be better, stronger, and more fit wavered my eating towards things that never felt right. After all, I’m the Atkins generation, Lord help us, so I often chose a block of cheese over that healthy green salad….because as a vegetarian that was the only option….and PROTEIN, right?
In 2021 I started taking growing my own food seriously. I became obsessed with a nutrient-rich diet. One where the food I was eating wasn’t coming from depleted soil, sprayed with toxins, and lacking nutrients because it was old and the nutrients had diet off.
But I was also trying to work hard at the gym…and well…protein.
That is when a friend recommended a book that changed my life.
Now, I’m not going to say this book is perfect and without bias but what it did was give me the freedom to be okay with trying a low protein plant-heavy diet. It permitted me to trade my disgusting and expensive protein shakes for fresh harvested and juiced green juices that I love so much.
Now I can say wholeheartedly that I will never go back. This changed my body, my recovery, and my health in all the best ways.
I no longer worry about protein. I worry about nutrients. Is the food I’m putting in my body fresh, as free as possible from toxins, and is it plants that heal. Those are the things that matter to me.
I’ll be 47 next week 🤗 and I feel better today than I did in my 30’s. That is the power of a nutrient-rich diet!
If you want to learn how to age not just gracefully but powerfully fueled by plant nutrition, make sure to follow along!

Absolutely terrible advice for any strength athlete, let alone someone who’s dieting. Do not lusten to her advice. You’ll lose muscle mass.
How much can you squat clean?
My doctor says the same thing. He told me to make sure I get enough protein, but to focus on my nutrient intake in order to promote healing. I’ve been fighting chronic sepsis since 2017. Every medical professional I’ve come across has said I shouldn”t be alive. I truly believe that my diet and God’s grace are what’s keeping me going. There were a couple of years where the only food I had access to was highly processed. I was getting loads of protein, but very little nutrients…. and my body suffered greatly! I could see a difference immediately when my diet changed. Nutrient dense food is so important. Granted, we do definitely need protein, but some tend to only focus on the protein and forget how much our bodies need those nutrients! My brother-in-law is a body builder and he was focusing on tons of protein, but not really worrying about how many nutrients he was taking in. He has a lot of muscle, but his endurance is very low. His immune system is also shot! He’s very sickly. It’s so sad to see. Hard to believe that someone like myself (chronically septic) can fight a virus off quickly, but a younger supposedly healthy individual catches everything and doesn’t recuperate well. I’m a true believer in clean, nutrient dense food. Steff, it’s amazing how you went from basically being chronically ill to healthy and vibrant. I realize these results didn’t happen over night, but your hard work is truly paying off. You’re such an inspiration! You go girl!!! Thanks for sharing! God Bless!!!👍🙏❤😊
Thank you for sharing your story!! I have found if the focus is nutrient rich food you end up with enough protein by default. God gave us amazing bodies that want to heal with the things he created. All this fake food is destroying people. It breaks my heart.
