2026 Indoor Farming: What’s Working vs What’s Not

This Video is from the Youtube channel:Homegrown Passion”.

Hydroponic greenhouse growing exploded in 2025 — but not everything worked. In this video, I break down what actually worked in hydroponics and greenhouse growing this year, what failed, and the simple changes we’re making in 2026 to grow more food with less stress, less cost, and fewer mistakes.

If you’re growing hydroponically — whether that’s microgreens on a window ledge, herbs under a grow light, or peppers, cucumbers, and strawberries in a greenhouse — this video is for you. I’m sharing real-world lessons from Bradwood Farm, not hype, not trends, and definitely not overcomplicated systems.

We talk about:

Why high-tech indoor farming struggled

Why greenhouse hydroponics keeps winning

The real enemy of plant growth (hint: it’s not nutrients)

Why stability beats perfection every time

What we’re changing in 2026 for peppers, cucumbers, strawberries, greens, and microgreens

How small growers can out-perform massive systems

You are having an audio issue called “clipping” where the waveform from your microphone goes off-scale. Using a lavalier microphone is a great way to get clear audio but if your mic is clipping there’s no way to fix it later. You might just try wearing the microphone a little further from your mouth. Thanks for your videos – I’m interested in NFT but have no experience with it at all. Happy new year

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

I really appreciate your feedback on the audio! I’ll make sure to adjust my mic setup. Happy New Year to you too, and I’m glad you enjoy the videos! Excited to hear your interested in NFT’s There is a lot to explore. Keep me posted!!

There is nothing like boring consistency to make life easier.
I’m concentrating on lettuces and spinach this year. Have already learned a lesson the hard way regarding crowding plants, an of the need to harvest early. Since I only grow for my family, I need to learn proper timing of seeding, setting out in the channels, and harvesting so I have a continuous supply of fresh vegetables.

  • @Baktunmaya says:

I will do greens and herbs

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

That sounds like a fantastic plan! Greens and herbs thrive in indoor farming setups. Wishing you great success with your garden! Keep me posted

Happy New Year to you too! I’m glad you found the information helpful. Here’s to a fantastic year of growing!

Hi Katy. Thanks for this info. I believe anything that you do you should have the cost of doing it regardless if the homeowner who wants to go, Drope can’t afford it maybe he could find a different price range then bobbins you should put back on your video the sticky yellow sticky pads anything that would help even Minimal price should be listed on your video to help. I know you have them in other videos, but by the time you eat fine that video you could post it on this video more of an update version maybe the cost is a little bit different. Anything would help anybody going in the hydroponics I think you know what I’m trying to say. Have a nice day. Joe

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

I agree Joe. Ok I’ll get some numbers together for an update. Thank you for the suggestion. ❤

Growing Muir lettuce, basil currently and introducing mint and arugula this year in 2026

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

Sounds great. Watch the mint, it can get away from you. Nothing better than hydroponic arugula.

  • @blackberryhillfarm941 says:

I’m growing hydroponic cut flowers indoors. Spent a few years growing food and it was great but it’s been so interesting learning flowers! Thank you for sharing your experiences! Super interesting video today!

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

Oh thanks. I really enjoy doing flowers also. I’m planning lots of cut flowers this year. I can’t wait!!!

Great video. Love how you start the beans up the trellis. Happy 2026!

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

So glad you enjoyed it! Starting the beans on the trellis is my favorite part. ❤️

  • @littleglasshouse5797 says:

Currently have lettuce, radish and kohlrabi growing in 2 mini NFT setups in the basement (72 plants)
Springtime, the glasshouse will be home to 6 cukes and 8 tomatoes in a recirculating system using 3 gallon perlite filled, mesh paint strainer lined buckets. The NFT troughs will be dragged from the basement and some early lettuce for the spring and late summer spinach will replace the lettuce for the fall until freeze. Might do some Kratky celery in some totes in the polytunnel for the summer/fall.
    Thanks for the great videos.

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

Wow that’s awesome! You have to keep me updated on your celery. I’m very curious on how you do that. I would love to see your basement setup. If you wouldn’t mind sharing my email is in the description. Could you send me some pics? I will put them up on my next video if it’s ok with a shoutout. 😊

The plan for 2026 is to finally put up a greenhouse. The Australian weather can be harsh and as you said I want predictability.

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

Thank you for sharing your plans! A greenhouse will definitely give you more control over your crops. I bet after its up and growing you are going to say to yourself I should have done this years ago. Wishing you all the success in your indoor farming journey! Keep me posted!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate your support. It’s wonderful to hear from another grower!

  • @saucebox11 says:

i agree with everything especially environment, humidity and air flow play such a big role. right now i am growing lettuce, bok choi, and spinach. I like the step by step idea, I am going to try cucumbers and bitter melon in my indoor dutch buckets, we will see. A video with what you run for ec and ph and other tips would be great wink wink lol.

    • @HomegrownPassion says:

Thank you for your insights! I’m glad you found the video helpful. I’ll definitely consider a video on EC and pH soon—great suggestion! If you have any pics you want to share I would love to post them on a upcoming video.
